Tomasz Merta (born in 1965) - historian of political thought, journalist, education expert.

M.A. in Polish philology (graduate of the Faculty of Polish Philology at Warsaw University), graduate of the post-graduate School of Social Sciences in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and [post-graduate studies (Ph.D.) at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences of at Warsaw University.

In 2000-2001 advisor to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and in 2001-2002 president of the Institute of National Heritage. Co-author of the programme of Law and Justice in the field of culture. Thematic consultant in Centrum Edukacji Obywatelskiej (Centre for Citizenship Education), co-author of numerous curricula and handbooks for social sciences, history and entrepreneurship (e.g. Z demokracją na ty, Przewodnik młodego obywatela, KOSS, Z ekonomią na ty, A to historia!). Co-author of methodical guidebooks for teachers (e.g. Jak oceniać uczniów?, W stronę konstytucjonalizmu, Edukacja prawna i obywatelska, Comparative Lesson for Democracy).

In 1996-1998 assistant in the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at Warsaw University. Co-author and co-editor of publicist books: Pamięć i odpowiedzialność (2005) and W obronie zdrowego rozsądku (2000). In 1996-1999 member of the editorial staff of "Res Publica Nowa", and in 1996-2000 Polish correspondent of "East European Constitutional Review". In 2000-2002 chief editor of "Kwartalnik Konserwatywny". Published also in "Znak", "Życie", "Rzeczpospolita", "Gazeta Wyborcza", "Przegląd Polityczny", "Więź", "Newsweek" and "Ozon".
