Preparations to the contest

Announcement of the contest:

• In the autumn 2009 the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage will announce the European Capital of Culture 2016 contest. The announced will be accompanied by publication of the regulations laying down the rules of activities of the selection panel.

Training on European Capital of Culture (ECC):

• In January 2009 in Cracow a training for cities applying for the ECC 2016 title was organised with participation of European experts to provide advice on appropriate preparation of the application and the cultural offer prepared by the candidate cities.

Publication of an information brochure:

• At the end of 2008 the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage announced a special information brochure with detailed information about rules for awarding the ECC title in 2016.
