Bogdan Zdrojewski was born in 1957 in Kłodzko.
Graduate of philosophy (1983) and cultural studies (1985) at Wrocław University. He worked at the Academy of Economics in Wrocław (Sociology and Social Politics Faculty) from 1983 to 1989 and Wrocław University (Sociology Department) from 1989 to 1990.
The first Mayor of Wrocław after the fall of communism. He held this post for eleven years until June 5, 1990 to May 8, 2001. He gained great popularity among Wrocław residents during the great flood in 1997, when he personally managed and supervised the rescue action.
Senator from 1997 to 2000. Elected as an independent candidate with 241.179 votes. Member of Parliament of 4th, 5th and 6th term. Chairman of the Parliamentary National Defense Commission (5th term 2005 - 2007).
Councilor of the City Council in Wrocław 1st term (1990 - 1994), 2nd term (1994 - 1998), 3rd term (1998 - 2001)
Member of the Independent Students Union (NZS - chairman 1982 - 1984) from 1980 to 1985, Wrocław Civil Committee "Solidarity" (1989-1990), honorary chairman of Dolny Śląsk (Lower Silesia) Civil Committee (1995-1997) and chairman of National Conference of Civil Committee (1996-1997).
Plenipotentiary of Dolny Śląsk Region in Civic Platform and chairman of Dolny Śląsk Region Management from January 2001. Since parliamentary election in 2001 - member of the national board in Civic Platform. From December 2006 to November 2007 chairman of the Parliamentary Group of Civic Platform.
Co-editor of following magazines: "Komunikaty", "Przedruki" i "Victoria". Founder and manager of Social Research Center to Regional Election Commission NSZZ "S" Dolny Śląsk (1989-1990). Member of e.g.: Local Territorial Council to the President of the Republic of Poland (1993-1995), Kredyt Bank SA Council (1994-1997), Board of Supervisors in Foundation of The National Ossoliński Institute (Ossolineum) since 1996 to January 2001, Board of Supervisors in Foundation in Support of Local Democracy (since 1995), The Largestr Polish Cities Presidents Convent and Council of Academical Chancellors of Wrocław and Opole.
He received the "Sancti Silvestri" order from pope John Paul II in 1998, Federal Cross I Class (Das Verdienstkreuz 1 Klasse), the Oder of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, from German President in 2001, and the Golden Cross of Merit from the President of Poland in 2002. In 1997, Bogdan Zdrojewski was the first laureate of the Andrzej Baczkowski Award for an"exemplary public service officer during daily work and crisis". The winner of the prestigious Leader of Europe award in 1998.
Wife Barbara, children: the daughter, Karolina, born in 1983,and the son, Stanisław, born in 1984.
